What you get

Every scan, four answers.

MyFitnessPal scans a barcode and gives you nutrition. We scan and give you nutrition AND whether to buy it.

Deal check

Is it on sale near you?

We check your local stores' weekly deals for the exact product (or a close match) and tell you if there's a discount worth grabbing.

Why it matters

The grocery aisle is the most expensive UI in your life.

You make 30+ buy/no-buy decisions per trip with two pieces of data: price on the shelf and nutrition on the side panel. Most apps help you with one or the other. None give you both AND whether a competitor store has it cheaper.

BiteCaddy turns every product into a three-second decision: scan, see deal + nutrition, decide.

Other apps

  • MyFitnessPal: nutrition only
  • Yuka: nutrition score only
  • Flipp: deals only, no scan

BiteCaddy

  • Full nutrition + 22 micronutrients
  • Local deal check across 100+ retailers
  • One-tap add to shop or log to tracker

When to use it

Four moments. Same scanner.

At the grocery store

Scan the bag of pasta to check if Aldi has a better price this week before you commit.

Mid-cooking

Reading the back of a can to log macros? Scan the barcode instead — done in 3 seconds.

Comparison shopping

Scan two products side by side to see which has better macros per serving — and which has a deal.

Pantry inventory

Scan a box already in your kitchen to add it to your pantry list with full nutrition pre-populated.

FAQ

Quick answers

What barcode formats does it support?

UPC-A and UPC-E (most US grocery products), EAN-13 and EAN-8 (international). If a product has a barcode you can find in a US grocery store, we read it.

What if the product isn't in your database?

We hit USDA FoodData Central first, then fall back to the Open Food Facts community database (2M+ products). If both miss, you can still type the product name to search or add it manually with custom nutrition.

How does the deal lookup work?

We match the scanned product against your local store deals (Kroger family + Flipp coverage = 100+ retailers). Exact UPC matches are highlighted; near-matches (same brand, different size) show as suggestions.

Does it work offline?

The barcode reading itself works offline, but the database lookup and deal check need an internet connection. Without internet, scans are queued and resolved when you reconnect.
